Miner Nation CrossTraining Club

among the Distant Brothers

Function - Explanation - Goals
This website has been re-vitalized to connect three brothers through shared workouts, even though they are attending separate universities. These three brothers are Calen Buford, Josh Boone, and Rob Chandler Waugh, named The Oligarchy. They founded the Miner Nation CrossTraining Club in September 2012, while attending Park City High School, and were the Presidents until June 2014. The MNCC has no leadership at PCHS currently. More information about the high school's club functioning is found below. However, the heart of the MNCC remains connected with The Oligarchy. They have chosen to use this blog for the purpose of sharing workouts, staying connected, inspiring healthy living within The Oligarchy and any past MNCC club members. As always, anyone who comes across this blog is encouraged to take advantage of the phenomenal archive of workouts. Thus the Miner Nation CrossTraining Club is technically still running, but not in connection with Park City High School.

Administrators
The Oligarchy is now separated, attending various universities. As of April 2015, The Oligarchy, which is composed of Rob Chandler Waugh, Calen Buford, and Josh Boone, have reignited the use of this blog. Former club members, Sophie Robinson and Brea Waugh, are also contributing. They are still attending Park City High School but are unable to commit to club presidency. The five people mentioned above are the Workout Designers of this blog.

Currently, no one is the president of MNCC at Park City High School. As of June 2014, The Oligarchy, which was composed of Rob Chandler Waugh, Calen Buford, and Josh Boone as co-presidents, stepped down from high school leadership. They still lead the blog for the purposes described above. In their final post as presidents, The Final Word, they explain the options for high school successors.

Goals and Disclaimer
For everyone out there wondering how much you have to achieve, this is for you. The goal of this club is to physically improve your body and mentally strengthen your will. This is not a contest to match those around you. We are not going to judge whether or not you can do 10 pull ups in a row. The key is to work as hard as you yourself physically can. It is all up to you. Some goals you may want to achieve may include the following:

be able to bench your own weight
be able to do 10 pull ups in a row
run a mile under 9:00 minutes
go through a whole workout without skipping a round or altering the WOD
     take shorter rests
perfect your form on at least one workout such as perfect pushup form: correct pushup form. (I suggest to look up)
be able to plank for 2:00 minutes plus
do 25+ pushups in a row
try a new workout, such as handstand pushups (who knows, maybe those will be your new favorite exercise)
get in shape for your sports team

Remember to always push yourself. It's not for someone else, this is for you. And have some fun while you're at it.

Commonly asked questions

Is this club still running?
Currently, no one is the president. As of June 2014, The Oligarchy, which was composed of Rob Chandler Waugh, Calen Buford, and Josh Boone as co-presidents, stepped down. In their final post as presidents, The Final Word, they explain the options for successors.

What do I need to join CrossTraining Club? How much is it?
It's completely free. All you have to do is show up to the gym or find a club leader before a workout. They'll show you where to go.

What do the acronyms mean?
All potentially confusing acronyms are explained in the Useful Terms page.

How hard are the workouts?
In general, the workouts are hard, but they are supposed to be so you can push yourself to get better. If a workout is too hard it can always be adjusted so you can still push yourself, but not get hurt in the process.

I'm a girl. Can I still come?
Yes, of course you can! Everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, ability, etc.

What should I bring or wear?
You should always wear a breathable t-shirt, running shoes, and exercise shorts. You always want to bring water. Some optional items would be a watch (with a stopwatch), and iPod with headphones.  Also long socks on days with cleans, power cleans, deadlifts, etc. are advisable to have.
